Intern Weekly Meeting: Monday, June 11, 2018

Time: 11:45-1:00 p.m.

Today's Agenda

Administrative Business:

• Next week's lunch is pizza-please let Shannon know if you wish to order from the café instead

• Tomorrow: Missouri Botanical Gardens Field trip
  -Volunteer drivers needed
  -Meet in lobby at 9:00 AM
  -Dress comfortably and bring your camera!
  -Time to walk around gardens after research tour

• Tomorrow Night: Cardinals Baseball game, 7:15 vs. Padres
  -Wear red :) Go Cards!
  -Get down there *early* - battling rush hour traffic + everyone getting down to the game
  -Cathy's advice: leave at 5PM and go to Ball Park Village to eat dinner (or in the Stadium)
  -Hand out tickets and parking/transportation information

• Friday: Ice Cream Social with CSTM (committee for Scientific Training and Mentoring)
  -3:00 PM Terrace or Café, depending on weather

• Research Experiences for Undergraduates Symposium
  -October 28-29, 2018 in Alexandria, VA (outside of DC)
  -Nominate 1 intern (120 interns are accepted nationally)
  -We will work on nominations in August, just after symposium 
  -We will cover airfare, registration, hotel costs
  -Present poster to other REU students, REU faculty, NSF program directors 
  -Attend graduate school recruitment fair
  -Participate in professional development workshops
  -Visit the Symposium Website 

• Next week's meeting-volunteers needed
  -MOBOT interns will be attending our meeting
  -Volunteers needed to give tours of the Danforth Center after meeting
